Jesper Schmidt

Jesper Schmidt works with digitalisation and project management at Sønderborg Municipality. His experience spans broad collaboration platforms, AI-supported workflows and data-informed municipal operations. He has worked on the municipality's Microsoft 365 implementation, including licensing, user support, training and security management. In his work with Teams, he has also shared experience of governance and managing collaboration, including access for external parties.

In AI, he has worked with RoboRef and the municipality's early trials of Microsoft 365 Copilot. He has shared the test group's experience and practical use cases in Outlook, Teams and Word, among other applications. In January 2026, he shared the municipality's experience of adoption, governance and security with the Microsoft 365 User Group. His focus is not only what the tools can do, but also what is required to make them useful in an organisation with many different employees.

His current professional work also includes developing the municipality's AI governance. Sønderborg is moving from a strong dependence on the Default environment towards a structure with multiple environments. Jesper works on questions of organisation, security, operations and usage management, including Copilot Credits and different billing models. An important part of this is clarifying the roles and skills needed to support development, financial management and ongoing technical changes.

He has also participated in the work to centralise the municipality's vehicles in connection with FleetOptimiser. Together with the municipality's fleet manager, he has described the importance of management support, dialogue with departments and organisational preparation. This underlines a consistent experience of digitalisation as both a technical and an organisational change.
