Kim Stannov Søvsø

Kim Stannov Søvsø leads the AI team in ITK Tech Lab at Aarhus Municipality. He helps develop and operate AarhusAI, the municipality's open-source platform for generative AI. His work connects technical possibilities with the organisation and the employees who will use them. He emphasises making new technologies understandable and accessible while ensuring they are used responsibly in a public-sector context.

His background also includes leading GovTech Midtjylland, where municipalities and the region have collaborated on new technologies and shared solutions. He co-authored a professional article on how cross-municipal communities can strengthen innovation, including work with IoT and data. This experience gives his AI work a broader perspective on reuse, shared expertise and collaboration between organisations that do not need to solve every technical challenge separately.

At ITK, he has described the development team's transition towards more agentic engineering. Agents are used to develop concepts and prototypes close to users, as well as in design, development, documentation and testing. The team is also working on the transition itself: skills development, organisation and shared repositories with agent skills that bring together agreed approaches and standards. This involves both development practice and the shared frameworks that make it easier to maintain.

Kim also has experience of explaining AI to larger groups of employees. In 2024, he delivered several internal events on public-sector AI in Aarhus and subsequently shared a shorter version on Vilde Teknologier. His contribution to knowledge-sharing therefore reaches both technical development teams and the managers and employees who need to understand the technology's possibilities, limitations and implications for their own work.
